Preparations for New Students Union
Student Unions Kicked off Preparations for New Student Union for the Innovation University
The Student Unions of Helsinki School of Economics, KY, the University of Art and Design Helsinki, TOKYO, and Helsinki University of Technology, TKY, held a kick-off event on 10 March 2008. This event was held for the working groups planning for the new students’ union of the coming Innovation University. This new students’ union will commence its operations at the start of the new Innovation University on 1 August 2009.
The working groups preparing the new students union have members from all three student unions. There are 23 working groups in all. These groups handle student culture, educational and social issues with the students’ interests in mind.
The new students union is being prepared in co-operation. The aim is to create a strong and well-functioning students’ union where things are done in a completely new way. The purpose of the students’ union is to serve as a bond for its members and to promote their societal, social, mental and educational ambitions, and to advance their aspirations relating to the students’ position in the society.
The students’ points of view about the innovation university and the new students’ union will be discussed at all three campuses in a venue taking place during 15–17 April.
